This itinerary has been carefully crafted specifically for those who choose to fully appreciate the stunning natural beauty and unique environment of Socotra. Relax as you fall asleep to the soothing sounds of ocean waves and wake up to breathtaking sunrises. Experience nature in its purest form, moments of calm and an invisible connection with the Universe. This tour offers an ideal opportunity to de-stress, restore your inner balance and harmony.
Meet your fellow travellers at Abu Dhabi airport (UAE) and flight to Hadibah (Socotra Island). Upon arrival, we meet with a local guide and team who will accompany us during our journey around the island. After lunch at the restaurant, we will travel by jeep to the Homhil Natural Protected Area, which is home to many species of endemic plants such as dragon, bottle and incense trees, with amazing natural scenery and many hiking trails.
Upon arrival in Homhil, we will take a walk along the river, where the water has formed the unusual stone shapes in the valley, and we will visit the amazingly beautiful natural infinity pool. It offers stunning views of the valley and the Arabian Sea. There we can swim in the emerald water and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the sea.
Dinner and overnight in tents at Homhil.
In the morning, if you wish, you can once again visit the natural panoramic pool. Then we head to the north-east coast of the island to explore the fantastic diving site of the Dihamri Marine Reserve. There you can snorkel in a marine protected area that is home to one of the richest coral reefs with over 200 species of colourful fish. Snorkeling equipment can be rented on site for an additional fee. After watching a breathtaking sunset, we will go by car to the charming Arher beach — a place where snow-white sand dunes, a transparent turquoise sea and a green oasis with fresh water flowing from a massif of granite mountains are amazingly combined.
Our dinner and second overnight stay will take place between the sea and the two sand dunes of Arher, under hundreds of stars and the whisper of the sea breeze.
Let’s start the day with a trip to the village of Terbak, where the largest cave on the island is located. Hoq Cave (3.2 km depth) preserves Socotra’s rich history and hides archaeological finds such as pottery remains and rock art. The cave amazes with its beauty and variety of stalactites, stalagmites and calcite formations. It will take 3-4 hours to explore the cave.
Next we will visit the easternmost point of the island — Cape Arisel — the place where the waters of the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean meet. Along the way we will be able to observe local fishing villages. At cape Arisel we will be able to see the sperm whale bones, bleached by winds and water splashes, lying right on the shore. Many ships sank in this place due to strong tides and ocean waves.
After returning from the cave, we will have time to relax, swim or climb the giant sand dunes.
Dinner and overnight at a tent camp on Arher beach
Early in the morning we will see the sunrise on the white dune of Arher.
After breakfast we will head to the south coast of the island through the stunning Defarhu Canyon. Along the way we will see traditional villages, natural pools and unusual bottle, cucumber and incense trees. We will continue our journey to the wonderful and breathtaking white canyon of Kelesihan. A walk along the easy trail for 30 minutes will be rewarded with stunning views of the many freshwater pools, as well as a variety of endemic* plants, birds and reptiles.
In the late afternoon we will continue our drive towards the villages of Hayf and Zahak, where at sunset you will be able to see the massive white sand dunes pushing towards the mountains under the seasonal winds of Socotra.
Dinner and overnight at eco-camping Hayf.
*endemic species — species that are found in only one place on earth and nowhere else in the world
We start the day with a trip to the beautiful Omak beach on the southern coast of the island. After swimming in the warm waves of the Indian Ocean, we will continue to the Dixam plateau (about 700 m above sea level) and the Shebahon viewpoint. This area is home to Socotra’s endemic plants and birds. Shebahon Viewpoint offers stunning views of Dirhur Canyon, its breathtaking scenery and unusual rock formations. We will then descend into the canyon for lunch, where we can take an easy walk and swim in the fresh water pools.
In the late afternoon we will continue to see and explore the only Dragon blood forest on earth — Fermhin Forest. There we will be able to observe hundreds of endemic and rare plants and birds of Socotra.
Dinner and overnight at a campsite in the Drakensberg Forest.
Today we will explore the western part of the island. Our first stop will be Qalansiyah, a small traditional fishing town. We will then continue to Detwah Lagoon, known for its magical scenery with a pristine sandy beach and turquoise water.
In the late afternoon we will take a short walking tour of the lagoon to meet Abdullah, a local who was born and lives in a small cave near the lagoon. Abdullah, also known as «Ellia» (caveman), can be considered an island legend. His way of life gives an idea of how the people of Socotra lived for centuries.
Dinner and overnight at Detwah eco-camp..
After an early breakfast, we will take a boat to Shuab Beach. On the way to Shuab, we can see dolphins and other marine life such as turtles, seabirds, as well as admire the magnificent cliffs and mountain views. Once on Shuab beach, you can swim and relax to your heart’s content, fully enjoying this beautiful untouched place. There are also mangroves near the beach.
Dinner and overnight at Detwah eco-camp.
After an early breakfast, if the group wishes, we can stop by the Women’s Association, where you can buy local souvenirs, thereby supporting the local residents and contributing to the preservation of this unique island. Transfer to the airport and flight to Abu Dhabi
