Tour program

Day 1: Arrival in Antananarivo

Arrival at the airport in Antananarivo (locals call the city ‘Tana’), meeting with our guide and local team at the airport. Transfer to the city and check-in at the hotel. For those arriving in the morning, an introductory walk around the city will be organised. Meeting the tour participants over dinner and overnight at a hotel in Antananarivo

Day 2: Andasibe | Night walk

After breakfast, transfer to Andasibe (6 hours). After checking into the hotel, we will set off to explore the evening rain forest in search of its nocturnal inhabitants. On our walk we will be able to see mouse lemurs, tiny chameleons and other nocturnal animals. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: National Park in Andasibe | Vakona Park

After an early breakfast at the hotel in Andasibe, we will head to the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, where we will get to know the diverse fauna of the Madagascar forest and see lemurs in their natural habitat. We will listen to the unusual songs of singing indri lemurs and play tag with sifaka lemurs. Lunch at the Vakona restaurant, followed by a visit to the Vakôna Lemur Island Park, where we will meet many species of lemurs, including the well-known ring-tailed lemur “Juliana”. We’ll see lemurs at arm’s length, and if we’re lucky, they might even come close enough for you to touch them. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Réserve Peyrieras Madagascar Exotic | Antsirabe

In the morning we leave for Antsirabe (8 hours) and on the way we will visit the Réserve Peyrieras Madagascar Exotic Park, where we will meet brown lemurs and sifakas, and perhaps feed them from our hands. We will also get acquainted with the wonderful world of colourful chameleons. On the way to Antsirabe we will stop for lunch. Dinner and overnight at Antsirabe Hotel

Day 5: Travel to Morondava

From Antsirabe we head to Morondava (8 hours). On the way we will stop for lunch. In the evening, at the entrance to Morondava we will see baobab trees for the first time, they will appear on the horizon, after checking into the lodge on the ocean shore, dinner with the freshest seafood awaits us. Overnight at a lodge in Morondava.

Day 6: Avenue of the Baobabs | Kimony Beach and Park | Sunset

Early in the morning we go to greet the dawn at the Alley of Baobabs, where these ancient trees stand like guardians of time. We will have time to enjoy these majestic trees in the first moments of the new day. This road is a common route for local residents to work in the fields, so we will have the opportunity to take authentic photos of the locals against the backdrop of these ancient trees. We will spend 2-3 hours in the alley and go to meet the Baobab Amoureux. After breakfast, we will go to Kimony beach, 10 km from Morondava, where we will have the opportunity to swim in the Mozambique Channel (part of the Indian Ocean), relax, sunbathe and refresh ourselves with a coconut. Then we will head to the Kimony Resort Hotel for lunch and a meeting with ring-tailed lemurs (the famous King Julian from the cartoon “Madagascar”), as well as friendly brown lemurs. And then, we go to watch the sunset in the avenue of baobabs. Seafood dinner. Overnight at a lodge in Morondava.

Day 7: Road to Tsingy de Bemaraha

In the morning we leave Morondava for Becopaca, where we will spend the night before exploring the Tsingy de Bemaraha Nature Reserve the next day. We’ll drive through changing landscapes, starting with the famous Avenue of the Baobabs. The trip will take you along scenic roads that pass through authentic villages and vast open savannahs. We will cross the Tsiribikhina River by ferry, having the opportunity to observe the life of the locals on the banks of the river.

As we get closer to Becopac, the area becomes even more impressive and we can see the limestone formations that await your exploration the next day. Arrive in Becopaca in the late afternoon where we will settle into our accommodations and enjoy a quiet evening and a dip in the pool surrounded by the sounds of nature, and preparing for the spectacular adventure to Tsingy de Bemaraha the next morning.

Day 8: Visit Tsingy rock formations

We will start the day with a morning drive to the entrance of the Tsingy de Bemaraha Nature Reserve, where we will meet a local guide who will accompany us through the park.  Tsingy de Bemaraha, or as it is also called, “stone forest,” amazes the imagination with its grandeur and unique stone forms. This is a unique protected karst landscape that is a UNESCO heritage site.

We begin our walk through dense bush, spotting unique wildlife along the way. Approaching the Tsingy themselves, we will not only admire the high limestone peaks from the side, but also climb in the “stone forest”, walk along the suspension bridge and narrow paths cut into the rock formations. Our guide will take us through the labyrinth, explaining the geological history and ecological significance of the site. We will visit hidden caves and viewpoints, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area, and enjoy a picnic among the stunning scenery. During our walk, we will probably see ring-tailed and brown lemurs, mongooses and other animals living in the park. Impressed by the beauty of Tsingy de Bemaraha, we will return to the hotel, where we will have time to take a swim in the pool and drink a glass of wine while watching the sunset.  Overnight and dinner at the hotel in Bekopaka

Day 9: Kirindy Nature Reserve

After breakfast, we depart for the private nature reserve of Kirindy, the habitat of the fossa — the only predator in Madagascar. There we will check into a hotel surrounded by baobab trees and be able to cool off in the pool after the journey. A walk through the forest in search of fossa. Dinner and overnight in Kirindy.

Day 10: Travel to Antsirabe

The Antsirabe journey takes us through the heart of Madagascar’s diverse landscapes. Leaving early, we will again drive along the famous Avenue of the Baobabs, where tall ancient trees rise majestically against the morning sky. As you progress, the landscapes will change from arid, baobab-strewn plains to rolling hills and lush greenery. Along the route we will see quaint villages with traditional Malagasy houses and bustling local markets, we will observe the vibrant culture and daily life of the Malagasy people. The road winds through breathtaking valleys and along winding rivers, with stops to take photos and stretch your legs. As you approach Antsirabe, the landscape becomes more mountainous and the climate cooler and more refreshing. Antsirabe is a high mountain town known for its thermal springs and colonial architecture. This scenic drive will be an unforgettable experience, revealing the natural beauty and cultural richness of Madagascar. Night in Antsirabe.

Day 11: artisan workshops | FamaDihan ceremony

We will spend an eventful day in Antsirabe, immersing ourselves in the rich cultural and craft heritage of this high mountain town. We begin by visiting a workshop where skilled artisans transform zebu horns into beautiful jewellery and decorative objects. By observing the complex process from start to finish, we ourselves will be able to take part in the process of processing the horn. We will then visit a silk workshop where we will learn about the traditional techniques of spinning, dyeing and weaving silk to create the exquisite silk products that are the hallmark of Malagasy culture. We’ll stroll through the vibrant local market, where we can purchase unique souvenirs and handmade crafts.To end the day, we will attend the Famadihana ceremony, which has deep cultural significance for the Malagasy people. It is a joyful and colourful celebration of life and ancestors, providing a unique insight into the Malagasy way of honouring departed loved ones. This day in Antsirabe will be the perfect combination of cultural discoveries and new knowledge about ethnographic traditions. Day 12: Antananarivo | departure to the airport

Breakfast, excursion around Tanya depending on the departure time of the tour participants. Dinner. Departure to the airport.
